While most of the Jersey Shore was off to a sleepy start this morning, returning staff and a few new faces turned up for the first of two tryout dates for the 2015 Summertime Surf Staff Team.
The water temp has warmed up a bit since last week, but it was not quite over 60F. Air temp was somewhere in the upper 60’s, light SW wind, 2-3ft surf and just about a 4ft+ High tide to make the run just a little more interesting. (When it’s high tide, you’re doing the run in pretty soft sand, usually on a slope.)
While the tryout is more pass/fail than contest, there is definitely some friendly competition and motivation to place as high as possible, especially with the top 5 finishers getting hooked up by Bing’s Deli in Avon for some caloric replenishment.
Thanks @curlyshirley63 for tagging us in the photo of the boards we used for the blog cover and as always, The Belmar Lifeguards for making sure everyone stays safe.
Thanks to everyone who came out and gave it their all and congrats to everyone who completed the 1.5 Mile Beach Run, 1.0 Mile Prone Paddle and .5 Mile Swim!
Here are the results of the top finishers under the goal time of 60 minutes:

Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and help you reach your goals in and out of the water. With out our participants, none of this would be possible.
